Saving for retirement years using small business retirement plan
The Situation: Anna is a doctor running her own private practice and she is retiring in five years. Most of her money is in annuities that are not tied to the market but will provide very low income in retirement.She is worried that she has not invested adequately in equities and will not have enough money for retirement.
Our Approach: We invested her low-yielding annuities proceeds in a diversified portfolio, adjusting her equity and fixed income allocation to be more in line with her risk tolerance. We helped her open an individual 401k account to contribute pre-tax and hence were able to reduce her taxable income and save for retirement years.
